High fidelity replication films

The optical structures are duplicated on specific foils using replication processes adapted to the different optical technologies:

  • Surface relief microstructures are replicated on plastic material by either mechanical embossing or UV casting
  • nanostructures are encapsulate in thin coatings to provide a new range of visual effetcs
  • Bragg holograms are duplicated by optical replication into a photosensitive material

SURYS develops replication films, each specifically adapted to the replication technique used. This specific adaptation is made available by the production of in-house films, bringing higher accuracy in the replication of the micro and nanostructures.

Adhesive systems

The unique quality of our adhesives is one of the key component in the high performance of our optical security films, featuring:

  • Easy industrial application
  • Compatibility with application or standard personalization equipment
  • Tamper evidence of the optical effects in case of fraud attempts
  • Adaptability of product and document materials
  • Resistance to constraints like abrasion, chemical attacks, aging, attempts at detachment, etc.

With an in-house chemistry laboratory, SURYS guarantees the customization of the adhesive for each project and specific substrate.

Pressure sensitive

SURYS proposes specific pressure sensitive adhesive for labels adapted to the selected substrate.

Hot transfer

Highly efficient adhesives are used for hot transfer application: highly resistant to heat, to fraudulent attacks.

UV adhesiving

UV adhesiving is a technique used by SURYS for exceptional bonding between the OVD  laminate and the substrate for increased security against removal attempts and strong resistance to aging and humidity.

Tamper evidence for labels

As part of any authentication label program, SURYS can offer two flexible options for tamper evidence:

  • Patterned Destruction: When an attempt is made to remove or transfer the label, it will destruct in a predictable (hexagonal structure known as honeycomb) method leaving evidence of tampering on both the removed label and the area to which it was applied.
  • Total Destruction: As the name implies, a Total Destruct label will break randomly, but clearly, making it essentially impossible to remove or reposition the resulting label fragment on another surface, or to hide evidence of a tampering attempt.

Laminates and Patches

A combination of foil structure with specific adhesives will immediately reveal any fraudulent attempt on ID, Travel and Fiduciary documents. Scratching, an attempt with solvents or heat plate, or both, would irreparably destroy the optical effects.

Security Layers

Precision vacuum reflective layer deposition

Security holograms can have several reflective layer aspects thanks to vacuum-coating technologies: transparent, aluminium, copper, chrome, and special colors.

HRI is a special reflective coating technique that leaves the optical image completely transparent and very bright. It is used notably in identity document protection systems since it enables both authentication of the document and protection of the variable data covered by the image, without impacting its readability. HRI technology requires specific equipment and know-how.

High definition Reflective Layer Shaping

SURYS masters technologies enabeling to micro-shape the reflective coating.
The Shaping is done in tight registration with the visual optical image, thus enriching the optical security design. The very high definition achieved can be used to create reflective micro text or micro images. Few companies in the world master this technology. Its combination with certain optical and specific refelctive  technologies guarantees an additional level of security.

Security printing

SURYS masters high-definition printing (micro-letters, lines) on optical images, in particular the combination of special security inks with optical images, including luminescence photo, taggants, thermo reactions, etc.
Depending on the special inks or varnishes to be used, the printing may be visible or invisible (in this case a special reader is needed, such as an UV lamp or a luminescence reader).
With proven additional expertise in high-quality flexo printing, SURYS can combine security and functional printing with customers’ graphic appearance.
